Victory Through Resurrection: A Message of Empowerment and Hope – Rev’d Emmanuel Adewara

Rev’d Emmanuel Adewara delivered a profound sermon centered on the theme ‘Victory Through Resurrection,’ drawing deeply from the Apostle Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1:15-23. Emphasizing the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the cornerstone of Christian faith, he highlighted that it is not merely an event commemorated on Easter Sunday but the very foundation upon which believers’ victory and hope rest. He explained that the resurrection power is the same mighty strength that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at the right hand of God, far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion.

The message underscored the spiritual significance of the resurrection, noting that it represents far more than Jesus rising from death, it is the source of believers’ empowerment to overcome natural and spiritual obstacles. Rev’d Emmanuel Adewara referenced the challenges faced by the early church in Ephesus, as recorded in Acts 19, where believers grappled with remnants of sorcery and spiritual bondage. He stressed that many Christians today still struggle because they do not fully understand or operate in the resurrection power that Jesus imparts. This power enables believers to rise above natural limitations, break spiritual seals, and overcome the enemy’s schemes.

Drawing from Ephesians 1:17-19, Rev’d Emmanuel Adewara elaborated on two key prayers of Paul for the church: first, that believers would receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation to know Christ more intimately; and second, that the eyes of their hearts would be enlightened to grasp the hope, the glorious riches of their inheritance, and the incomparably great power available to those who believe.

He emphasized that this hope is not merely earthly but anchored in the eternal promises of God, and that believers are called to live in the fullness of these riches here and now. He encouraged the congregation to embrace this inheritance and power, breaking free from hopelessness and spiritual bondage.

In conclusion, the sermon called believers to recognize that the same power that rolled away the stone from Jesus’ tomb, broke the seal, and rendered the soldiers powerless is at work in their lives.

The Obstacles Jesus Overcame at Resurrection

Matthew 27:62-65 describes the security measures placed on Jesus’ tomb:

  • The stone: a natural obstacle representing natural limitations and circumstances. Natural challenges include family background, toxic environments, and congenital issues. Jesus’ resurrection power can remove these natural stones from believers’ lives
  • The seal: a symbol of authority, power, and spiritual forces beyond human capacity. Seals represent spiritual blockages and hindrances that believers face despite their efforts. Jesus came to break these seals, and believers can claim this victory through resurrection power
  • The soldiers: human agents empowered to oppose God’s purposes. Soldiers represent people or forces that oppose believers’ progress and destiny

This resurrection power is incomparable and beyond human measure, capable of delivering victory over every form of oppression and limitation. You are invited to receive this grace afresh, affirming that through the resurrection, victory is assured and accessible to all who believe.
